Birthdays
We will recognize each child's special day at school with a birthday hat, song and by letting them take home the Birthday Bag. In the bag there will be books and activities for you to share with your child. Return the bag and books at the end of your child's birthday week and we will read together how they celebrated their special day. If you child has a summer birthday. We can recognize their half birthday or choose a day in May to allow them to take home the Birthday Bag.
**Birthday Parties: You may send invitations home in the Tuesday folders as long as there is an invitation for EVERY student in the class (not just boys or just girls). If you do not wish for the entire class to be invited, you will need to find another way for invitations to be passed out. Please do not pass out invitations on the front porch! Other students are waiting on the porch and can get their feelings hurt if they are not invited. Thank you for your sensitivity to this matter!

Home Folders
Explanation of Kindergarten Folders
White: The white folder is the "Tuesday" folder, and will be sent home each Tuesday. It contains information from the teacher, campus, PTA and district. There will times when information needs to be completed/filled-out and returned, so please check the folder each Tuesday. Please sign the cover and return on Wednesday.
Yellow: The yellow folder is a Home Enrichment Folder with optional ideas for activities to do with your child at home
Red: Take-Home Reading Folder:
Your child's take-home reading folder will frequently be in his/her backpack. I use this for a variety of books, so it may contain one or more of the following:
* a guided reading book which was used in small group reading instruction
* a classroom library book selected by your child
* a published book written and illustrated by your child during writing workshop
* a photocopied book which was colored by your child
Please return all books to school. Each student has a reading "browsing box" to collect books they have made. Students will read from that box during reading workshop. Sets of books that are used in a reading group are limited and often used with several groups at different times, so it is very important these books make it back to class.
Thank you for taking time to share these books with your child. They are always extremely proud to take them home overnight!
